Abstract

This chapter emphasizes John Waters’ revision of acceptable filmic contents in terms of queerness. Waters’ cult and midnight movies play up the trashy and the campy in opposition to staid bourgeois taste. The chapter discusses the repertory of actors in Waters’ films and the role of locations such as Baltimore and downtown New York.
